The Key to a Peaceful, Prosperous Life? Banish lower energies!

I have done everything in my power to keep politics out of my blog.  However, this country is coming to the point where the politics at play can and will harm any chances we have of moving forward and moving into the light as a people, as a species and as a planet. The danger?   Lower energies.

Lower energies: What are they? Fear, lack, hate, bitterness, selfishness, resentment, bigotry, violence, anger, and much much more.

In a Facebook discussion on the timeline of one of my friends, I began to examine what is going on in this country on a more metaphysical level.  I’ve been personally, in my meditations, getting rid of lower energies as much and as consistently as possible. About 14 months ago, I began to physically do the same, distancing myself from anyone who personifies lower energies, as well as using Facebook tools to block and unfriend those types.

You know, once this ‘culling’ began in my life, where I started getting rid of these people over a year ago, I have realized when analyzing, that they were never contributing anything to my life whatsoever anyway. I’ve not missed a single one of them.

Remember, you will attract in your life what you put forward. If you put forward compassion and love, you’ll attract the same. Those who are unable or unwilling to live in that manner and who put forward opposite, lower energies will attract the same to themselves. It is your choice of course, but when you cut those types out of your life, you are now able to move forward yourself in quantum leaps. Your power to do good will intensify and isn’t that what we’re all here for?

They were ‘hangers-on’ who were trying to enjoy the good positive energy of those like us, without actually contributing any of their own. Now, whether that is because they HAVE no good energy of their own or because they chose not to, is of no consequence. They are leaches. They are small, dark beings living in their own dark world of their own making, living in hate and resentment and refusing to move forward. They always have the choice to move forward but it is their choice. You will not teach them if they do not want to learn.

It is just recently that it has come to me that the entire Trump movement is a massive, ugly metaphor the worst of the worst on this planet. They embrace fear, selfishness, hate, anger, violence, ignorance, bitterness and all the while, do nothing to help others – not other humans, not society, not nature and not other beings.

Step back, my friends.  Look at your life, your country and your planet in the larger view. When you do that keeping in mind that the lower energies are harming us all, and they have become increasingly prevalent in the form of a political movement BASED ON lower energies, I hope you will see how dangerous this situation is.

Please everyone, move away from lower energies. Embrace truth.  Do the work. Ban the lower energies and those who exhibit those energies from your life.

Move into light.  Move into compassion.  Move into love.  Move into truth. Your health will improve.  Your life will improve.  Your point of view will improve.  And the sooner you eliminate the toxic energies and people in your life, the sooner you and those around you will move forward.

Butterflies

The BEST elephant charities, where your dollars do more good.

As an ardent supporter of animal rights, it is no secret that I am passionate about helping them. Through all our efforts, the poaching has not abated.   Add to that the disgusting murder of elephants by trophy hunters such as Donald Trump’s arrogant sons, and it has become quite the mission for me to help in any way I can.

I’ve begun to notice the massive number of emails coming to my email box asking for financial support for elephants.

African ElephantsThere are so many, and many I have not heard of. They seem to be popping up everywhere. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE CHECK THEM OUT BEFORE DONATING to be sure our dollars do the most good. Thus I began a small study, to find who is valid, who is not, who is actually getting results.

You’ll read/hear the term NGO. NGO’s are a non-governmental organization is any non-profit, voluntary citizens’ group which is organized on a local, national or international level.

This article below is rather good.

The upshot: Of the global NGOs, Wildlife Conservation Society is credited with doing the most effective work in Africa. Their overhead is relatively low and they are very hands-on and partnering with governments, thus not handing off to other charities.

Another that looks good is an on-the ground organization in Africa is African Parks: From the article linked at the bottom of the post, “NGOs like African Parks, which take on the management of protected areas in partnership with governments, are increasingly attracting donor funds because they are accountable for their actions. In signing formal public-private partnership (PPP) agreements, they secure full management responsibility for a protected area and are held responsible for what happens under their watch”.

As always, my favorite, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust does amazing work and it’s a multi-pronged operation – saving orphaned elephants and reintegrating into the wild, with anti-poaching units, air units, and dog units. They also help other animals.

Something I want to learn more about is how we can be proactive in immediate governmental bans on ivory worldwide.  The ‘phase in’ thinking isn’t helping and the need is immediate and desperate.

I’ll be posting more on these groups as I find links and will also post here and on Facebook and Twitter.

Choose Your Toothpaste Wisely

Last night, there was a piece on the evening news about how over-diagnosed thyroid cancer is.  While thyroid disorders have sky-rocketed, the information on the piece was that a thyroid cancer diagnoses shouldn’t be treated with an immediate knee-jerk reaction.  However, this is important to note:  Thyroid disorders HAVE sky-rocketed.  Why?  The toxic chemicals we are exposed to daily affect our body and especially, the thyroid.   And the thyroid, a small butterfly-shaped gland in our neck area, is very powerful when it comes to regulating our entire system. There are a multitude of serious problems that are caused by a malfunctioning thyroid gland. One of the worst chemicals for the thyroid is fluoride.

The history of fluoride is rather checkered.  You will find those who extol it’s virtues, yet the truth is well hidden.   Fluoride is a toxic byproduct of aluminum production.   Alcoa and other companies pushed the sale of their toxic byproduct to municipalities for the water supply and municipalities bought it.  AlcoaSludgeAnd yet Alcoa has a history of toxic contamination of air and water worldwide. Within this article, is an interesting interactive map that will show how much damage they’ve done. (I had some problem trying to paste the actual interactive map directly.)  They’ve been fined over and over again by the US government and other governments for toxic air and water polution.  So exactly why would we think their toxic byproducts are safe, when their actual operations are not safe?  Now, most communities in the US are subjected to fluoride in their water.

We have done all we can do to eliminate fluoride in our life, for about 10 + years now.  We use an under-sink filtration unit to rid our water of fluoride and metals.   I lug jugs of that water upstairs to our bathroom and keep in a glass dispenser, so that we do not take in any fluoridated water.  Our pets haven’t had it in years either.

But beware:  Fluoride is in more places than our water.  It’s in our toothpaste and mouth rinses as well.   Again, we stopped using any toothpaste with fluoride about 10 years ago as well.  The dentist was initially alarmed, but guess what?  Our teeth and gums are better and better!  (Remember, dentists are no different than medical doctors and veterinarians who are trained to think only one way and who never become involved in any sort of continuing education.  They just buy what the pharmaceutical industry sells them. ) We have used Weleda Salt Toothpaste for a long time.  It’s a German brand and is mainly baking soda with a bit of mint.  At that time Weledathose years ago, it was the only thing I could find that really fit our requirements.  Now, it appears there are more options.

Here is a toothpaste scorecard that you might find helpful.

I am a voracious label reader.  I read every ingredient of all that we use, then research to determine what is a risk, or the level of risk, of buying and using the product.  My trips to the market take way longer than most, if I’m shopping for a particular ‘new’ item.

However, in a world where we have government that is controlled by lobbyists, where we have legislators who are loyal to corporate money more so than to the people they represent, I strongly recommend that everyone do the same.  Until we can get corporate money OUT of our government (fingers crossed for this election cycle) and overturn Citizens United, we are all subject to more and more contamination that is the result of greed.

(Posts will not be daily but please be sure to continue to follow us.  I’m hoping to do 2 or 3 a week, based on my work load from my ‘real job’.)

Wow! I’m BACK!

So, perhaps I’ve been a bit busy with other stuff lately, but now, I’m back and going to try to do better.  The discipline it takes to do a daily blog post was getting in the way of my actual day-job.  So I’m going to give it another try.

I’m still on my health and wellness path for myself, my husband and our pets.  I’m still on my path, both spiritually and physically.

Something occurred off and on in the past 4 months that puzzled me.  I have never had an issue with acne.  Suddenly after a trip to visit our friend in Southwest Florida in April,  I had a nasty out break on my face, near my nose.  It was a truly difficult to eradicate it.  I finally was able to get rid of it and never could figure where it came from – my diet was the same, my facial products were the same.   Then about 6 weeks later, it happened again.  And about 4 weeks after that, again.  I never put two and two together until last weekend.

Before every outbreak, we’d visited our friend up in SW Florida.  I’d always noticed that the towels and sheets had an obnoxious perfume-y smell.  I bring my own pillow. However, I did use the towels and washcloths provided to wash my face.  Then it dawned on me.   It’s the detergent!

Your home is filled with poisons!

Your home is filled with poisons!

The maid evidently loads the machines up with product, and with dryer sheets.  There is so much detergent embedded in the fabrics, it never washes out completely.  Actually, I’d done a load of our laundry in their washer/dryer a year ago and it took 4 washings at home to get the stench of the perfumed detergent out of our clothing – and I’d brought our own gentle, organic detergent with us!

Once I’m home, my face starts to heal.  In investigating, I found that, according to an article on Dr. Mercola’s site :

“The detergent you’re using may contain a cocktail of potent cancer-causing chemicals, some of which the manufacturer doesn’t even have to list on the label. This loophole reduces the odds that you’ll ever discover what’s in there.

“Four of the worst offenders are:

  1. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)/sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)
  2. 1,4-dioxane
  3. NPE (nonylphenol ethoxylate)
  4. Phosphates”

NOW I know what is happening to my skin!   As soon as I am away from the toxins, my skin clears up.

Obviously, this isn’t the only toxin in your home, but it’s a place to start.  My go-to for cleaning products for the home is the the Environmental Working Group .  Their database is a great starting point for any decisions for a healthy home environment.

Another thing I do is to use white vinegar instead in the fabric softener dispenser.  It keeps the clothes smelling fresh, with no perfumes.  No, you don’t smell like a pickle!  It also helps to cut any residue that might still linger on clothing or linens.

The best supplement for pets – and humans

In my last post, I promised I’d write about a supplement we use for our girls on a daily basis.  Not only do they LOVE it, and ask for it, it is really a top notch addition to their wellness and health needs – Chlorella and Spirulina. These are both algae and incredibly beneficial for humans and animals alike. We take both ourselves with our daily supplements.  And our girls get them in the morning and at night, waiting for vitaminsat the same time when we’re taking our daily supplements.  They love them!  Plus it is a crunchy treat which can’t be bad for their teeth and gums, and the chlorophyll helps with any breath issues that they may have. Chlorella benefits the entire body by supporting healthy hormonal function, good cardiovascular health, helps to negate the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, and aids in the detoxification of our bodies. Chlorella contains a high concentration of chlorophyll.  While we should all eat more leafy green vegetables for good health, we know that getting  five servings a day can be a challenge. Chlorella offers the same nutritional benefits of these veggies. A 1 ounce / 3 TBS serving of Chlorella (tablets or powder) generally contains (based on Chlorellahuman RDA’s, which are always questionable in my book): 16 g of protein, 287% of the RDA of Vitamin A, 71% of RDA of Vitamin B2, 33% of the RDA of B3, 202% of the RDA of Iron, 22% RDA of Magnesium, 133% RDA of Zinc.  It also contains a goodly amount of B1, B6 and phosphorus. It is more nutrient dense than kale, spinach or broccoli. It’s a prime immune system booster. In a world where our drinking water is contaminated with heavy metals, where our air is polluted and in certain parts of the world, is contaminated with radiation, Chlorella will rid your body of metal contamination, radiation and is helpful for the recovery of those who have undergone chemotherapy. While Chlorella is also helpful in lowering blood sugar and cholesterol, it can assist with weight loss. Spirulina has many of the same benefits, plus others.Spirulina  It has been essential in fighting world hunger and is a weapon in fighting arsenic poisoning.  As an immune system booster, it is key in fighting auto-immune disorders as well as yeast and candida. It is a  helpful tool to normalize cholesterol naturally, without the side effects of statin drugs. Spirulina balances blood pressure and reduces stroke and cancer risk. Concerns: As with most products, you wouldn’t want to take Chlorella or Spirulina if you have an allergy to the product.  The most important thing is finding a very CLEAN version of each. With radioactive contamination in Japan in an area that was once a major producer, steering clear of products from that area is important.  China, of course, is always an area of concern for any product since quality control is not a priority there. Thus as with any product, it is critically important that you research the source of ALL of your foods and supplements. First – go organic! Next, it should be 100% Chlorella with no fillers.  The best source for Chlorella these days is Taiwan. The product we use for ourselves is  organic, gluten-free, non-gmo.  We’ve been using Health Ranger Select. The Spirulina we buy is from Hawaii and non-GMO, though not listed as certified organic.  We’ve been using Health Ranger Spirulina Select . And for our girls, we do give them a slightly different version than ours. It is of course, organic, non-GMO, 100% pure and from Taiwan.  Chlorella Spirulina ComboI found that they were sometimes resistant to the larger Spirulina tablet size, so the product we use is 50% of each in each tablet.  The product is Sunlit Chlorella Spirulina.  I started them out with a couple of tablets in the morning and a couple at night.  They totally snarf it down!  With no side effects, I’ve upped it now to about 6 in the morning and 6 at night.  I’ve researched and have found no problems with a dose this size for cats. It is actually quite the treat for them.  I can shake the bag and they’ll come from the furthest corner of the house and sit patiently, waiting for their ‘vitamins’. It’s also a great way to get one out of a place that I don’t want them to be in such as in a closet.   Ahh, the life of a cat! More waiting Sleeping, playing, waiting – always waiting for the next big thing.  And my goal is to be sure their lives are long, healthy and that they spend a lot of time waiting for and doing their favorite ‘big things’.   I credit the following websites for some of the statistical information in today’s post: http://draxe.com/7-proven-chlorella-benefits-side-effects/ http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/01/spirulina-the-amazing-super-food-youve-never-heard-of.aspx

Dealing with cat vitamins and meds

Yesterday was National Cat Day. In my opinion, EVERY DAY should be National Cat Day.  Our pets and in our case, our cats, are often the center of our worlds and they are as much a part of our family as any human.  With that in mind, I’m posting some info on meds and vitamins for cat people.

Our Mhysa is having issues because of a bad spay.  MhysaBathroom1The vet evidently left some ovarian material in her, and we’re waiting for her to have another big heat so we can do a blood draw to see what her estrogen level is.  The vet who did this wants that as ‘proof’ he screwed up.  Um, as if it’s difficult to see when a female cat is in heat!  And if the cat goes into heat AFTER she’s been spayed?  It’s a no-brainer.  However, I guess I’d rather know for sure myself before this guy who obviously makes mistakes, hacks away on my little sweetheart.

There is another side effect, though.  It seems because of whatever problem that occurred during her procedure, she has some urinary issues caused, I believe, by scarring in the area.  Mhysa had some problems with incontinence for a while, where she’d have to immediately stop what she was doing to pee, wherever she was.  At first I assumed it was a UTI and we went with (UGH!) antibiotics, which I HATE.  The symptoms stopped during the 7 day treatment and for a week thereafter, but then came back.

That’s when it dawned on me:  Antibiotics cause humans Colloidal Silverto get yeast infections and the ‘feel’ of a yeast infection in women is very similar to the ‘feel’ of a UTI, creating an uncomfortable urgency.  I did some research and found that this was indeed a common occurrence with kitties,  so I then looked for some more natural treatments.  This site had some good information:  Colloidal Silver treatment for cats and for dogs

I started Mhysa on a 10 day course of Colloidal Silver, based on her weight.  I have used this product for us and for our pets in the past.  I have found it to be helpful if I have an issue with a tooth when I have been grinding my teeth in my sleep and make my gums sore.  It doesn’t happen often, but it happens.  I have also used this  on cuts and scrapes and burns and it heals them a lot faster than without.

Mhysa is such a great little trooper when it comes to meds, but maybe that’s because our sweet girl has had to deal with it since right after the botched surgery.   I just used a syringe with the recommended amount and put in her mouth. 1cc/ml syringe  In this case, she got 1/16 tsp which equates to 0.25 on the syringe.  She knows I’m trying to help because she rarely fights me and handles it all very well.  I don’t squirt down her throat because that causes them to choke and also, with the colloidal silver, it can be absorbed through the gums and sides of the mouth, so the benefit is a bit better if it lingers in her mouth a few seconds.

In talking with our Animal Communicator (or Cat Whisperer, if you will), Dr. Liz, she verified that we were on the right path.  After about 7 days, Mhysa stopped the urgent peeing behavior and so we stopped after 10 days.  In talking with Dr. Liz this week, we want to try to help her urinary tract to heal, and she recommended we mix it up to keep Mhysa’s body on the mend.  We don’t want her body to become complacent and start to ignore any efforts we’re making.

So now we have started on 10 days of CrandophilousMhysa Vitamin 1This has cranberry for urinary tract health plus probiotics so we can re-populate her intestinal flora that was ruined by the antibiotics.   After 10 days of that, we will go to a combination of Trophy Prozyme Powder for Pets and Cranactin .   (The links are to Amazon.  If you can find them locally, that would be great too.)

So, the trick is to get our girl to eat it.  While they all recommend just sprinkling it on the food, and assume all pets will eat anything on their food, ‘they’ don’t know MY girls.  They would do without food for weeks rather than eat anything on their food.  So it dawned on me that I could administer the Crandolphilous in the same manner as the Colloidal Silver. AND it works and works well!

Here’s what I do: I open one capsule and empty it into a very small sauce dish. SyringeCompositeSince I feed them dehydrated raw food, I warm about half a cup of water in the microwave for 18 seconds to hydrate their food. So I first fill the entire syringe (as above) with warmed water.   Then I add to the powder in the sauce dish and mix well.  Let it sit for maybe 2 minutes, to allow it to become more ‘clear’ than cloudy.  Then draw the mixture into the syringe and give it to Mhysa. She takes it rather well.   I plan to do the same thing at the end of 10 days, with the Prozyme powder and Cranactin.

There is one more supplement I use for my girls and I’ll write more about that tomorrow.  In the meantime, here’s yet another picture of my Mhysa, sitting with me when I was in the MhysaBathroom2bathtub today.  She loves the bathroom and like most all cats, they refuse to give any of us our privacy.  After all, our lives belong to them!

Simple, Healthy Meals: Pizza

We all love pizza, right?  And generally with pizza, you’re taking on a load of calories, fats and the bloat to go with it all.  It doesn’t have to be that way.

Many times (like recently), I’ve been very busy with work so when it comes to dinner time, I turn to some of my quick, healthy meals.  Last night?  It was gluten-free veggie pizza.

Because gluten free crust is hard to come by and takes forever to make from scratch, we’ve been using our high-fiber, gluten-free lavash as the basis for our pizzas for 5 or 6 years or longer.  (I’ve mentioned the lavash before in my quick morning go-to for my husband when he needs the energy to play 18 holes of golf in the searing heat.)

All you need to do is to decide on your sauce and toppings.  Your choices are limitless!

Pizza BasicsPreheat the oven to 350 degrees.

I start with the lavash and spread with my sauce du jour.

Sauces:

If you prefer a red pie which we do sometimes, and I have a homemade marinara on hand, I use that since it will be organic.  You can buy jarred organic pasta sauces but be warned – they’re generally loaded with sodium.

If you like a ‘white’ pie, I spread on a herbal butter/olive oil blend that I make.   For that, mix in a jar equal amounts melted organic butter and organic olive oil with a few cloves of garlic that have been pressed, and a tablespoon of mixed herbs (usually oregano and thyme). Warm slightly in the microwave for 15 seconds.  Shake or stir well.  Refrigerate and use for toppings for pizza, for garlic bread or for anything else you desire.  Tip:  Udi’s makes a nice baguette that can be brushed with this garlic/herb oil/butter mixture and baked in minutes.  Yum!

If you like a pesto base, a homemade pesto is simple!   In a small food processor, add fresh basil, pine nuts, a bit of citrus (lime or lemon) salt, pepper and olive oil.  All are available in organic.

Toppings:

Simple is always good so my choice for simple is the classic Pizza Margherita:  Add pieces of torn basil leaves and your favorite shredded Italian cheeses.

Veggie toppings, to name a few: mushrooms, onions, artichoke hearts, black olives, broccoli, zucchini, sliced tomatoes, green onions, eggplant, red, green or yellow peppers, broccolini, pepper flakes and grilled Portobello mushrooms.  Some like a Hawaiian pizza with pineapple and ham. The produce section offers many veggie treats for your creative pizzas!

Meats:  While pepperoni is preferred by many, it is high in sodium and fat, and has no vitamins, no fiber and very little else to offer.  Some alternatives include parma ham, grilled chicken, or crumbled, cooked chicken or turkey Italian sausage.  Grilled and sliced (or chopped) portobellos give a meaty flavor without the meat.

Cheese:  You MUST have cheese!   The standard Italian cheeses just can’t be beat. Parmesan, Romano, Asiago are hard cheeses that melt well. Pecorino is flavorful and a slightly different twist.  You can add Gorgonzola for a bit of a bite.  As you may remember, when it comes to cheeses, I prefer cheeses that are not made in the US (and thus guaranteed to beFresh Veggie Pizzacontaminated with GMO).  You can find, by the way, organic cheeses made in the US that will not have GMO’s.  Organic Valley has a small selection. When I can find true Italian Fontina, I use it.  This isn’t a hard cheese but it is a wonderful-gooey mess when it melts.  Experiment!

Finally, don’t be afraid to use pizza for other courses and other meals.

Dessert pizza:  Spread with cream cheese, top with fresh berries and bake just a few minutes. You can also add any fresh-fruit organic marmalade or jam.  Just be sure that you stay away from the chemicals and high-fructose corn syrup.

Breakfast pizza:  Whip your eggs as usual, carefully pour on the crust, add a bit of cheese, perhaps a bit of ham, veggies, bake and you’re good to go.

If you’ve forgotten how much I love cheese (the ONLY dairy we eat), please feel free to check out this August post:  Cheese, Glorious Cheese!
